Ken Blewitt has spent the majority of his life around sports -- from playing to coaching to administering from early youth leagues to the professional level.

As Head of Operations for The Blewitt Foundation, Ken brings his years of experience and effectiveness in working to develop youngsters through sports to help create and implement many of the special programs of the foundation. His passion for his family foundation's mission has been in evidence since it was first envisioned.

A teacher in both public and private schools, Ken served as Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach of Lackawanna Junior College (Pennsylvania) and as Operations Manager for the Philadelphia Phillies Triple A Stadium, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. He owned and operated small businesses in Florida and North Carolina, where he also coached in sports youth leagues.

An outstanding athlete in baseball, basketball and football as a youngster, Ken was awarded a baseball scholarship to Eastern Kentucky University, where he excelled to the point of setting school hitting records and was named twice to the All Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Team. He also starred in the Atlantic Coast Collegiate Summer League. Upon receiving his Bachelor of Science degree with a Major in Physical Education and a Minor in Corrective Therapy, Ken was signed to a professional contract with the Chicago Cubs and played for its Bradenton, Florida team in the Gulf Coast League.

A recent inductee into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Northeast Chapter, Ken received his certificate in training from the Josephson Institute of Ethics Character Counts! program. He is the father of a son and daughter.

Excerpts from Destination R&R attendees:

"......You have sought out the disabled service members, including their families, recognized and honored them in a way that is unheard of in today's society.....My favorite part of the trip only last 20 seconds. It occurred when our son looked up at his Dad and for the first time, didn't see his disabled father, but he saw his hero. Thank you for that wonderful gift."

"......The trip made a profound impact on our family and we will be forever grateful......We will never forget how much you have changed our lives"
